Task Properties dialog box

Title. The title of the task.

Original Estimate. When you first create a task, enter an estimate of how long you think it will take in this field. It is intended that you do not modify the original estimate after the task has been initially created. As you work though the task, and feel the current estimate is incorrect, modify the Current Estimate. This will help you keep track of how accurate your initial estimates are, so you can learn to produce better, more accurate estimates in the future. Group tasks will contain a summary of all the estimates of the tasks they contain and can not be edited.

Current Estimate. Your current best estimate of how long the task is going to take to complete, from start to finish. You should update this as you work on the task and get a better idea of how long it will take. Group tasks will contain a summary of all the estimates of the tasks they contain and can not be edited.

Elapsed. Set this field to the number of hours you have worked on this task. When the Elapsed time for a task is the same as the Current Estimate, the task is marked as complete. This field will hold a summary of all the work done in group tasks, and can not be edited.

Priority. Sets the priority of the task. High priority tasks are shown in red by default, to help you quickly locate the areas of the project that need you attention. Group tasks will have the same priority as the highest priority task they contain.

Notes. If you have any additional information about a task that you would like to store with it, you can enter it here. If you store a lot of additional information with each task, you can resize the Task Properties Dialog box by dragging its edges. This will allow you to see more of your notes at once.

A summary of the notes entered here can be optionally be displayed in the main view by enabling Note View.
